Saxophone Repair Course: 2008 Sold out  - All places are now taken on these courses for this year. We are taking provisional bookings for 2009 and we may be running some weekend courses this year so just drop us an email if you are interested in repairs. If you have bought an ebay sax we will of course give it a look over for free. Just pop in.

If you are interested in taking up instrument repair as a hobby or just like to buy an old instrument off Ebay we are here to help. Our plan is to start new courses in the spring of 2009.

The aim of the course will be to show students firstly what to buy and what not to buy on ebay. The things to look out for, what saxes will make money and what saxes will not make any money no matter what work you do.

The course will last for 10 weeks and cost only £150. It will be an evening class running from 7pm - 9pm on either a Monday or Tuesday commencing the second week of April 2009. Places will be limited to 3 students per class.  The course will be structured to cover the initial purchase of an old saxophone  probably from Ebay then covering

bulletInspection
bulletStripdown
bulletPad removal and sizing
bulletTone hole levelling
bulletBody washing
bulletMouthpiece refacing
bulletDent removal
bulletKey swaging
bulletSoldering and silver soldering
bulletRe assembly
bulletTesting and adjusting

The course is not intended to turn you into a repair technician, Havering can only afford one and that's me!!!! BUT it will be fun and informative and at the end of it you will have a great playing sax that YOU fixed up. ( if you paid me to do it, it would cost you £275).
